My 23rd Birthday

I've never shared my birthdays here before, so I think this is a good time to share one. Got the first birthday cake from my bf and tbh I wasn't that surprised by his presence due to the fact that he comes to my house every year on my birthday to join me eating noodles (as an Indonesian born chinese, there's this custom to eat noodles on the birthdays, symbolising longevity). However, the cake from him this year was a hit, it was really cute I love it :) I also received loves from my friends, family, and coworkers. So yeah, basically my birthdays have always been filled with so much love, fun, smiley faces and people who mean the world to me.

Wedding Day (Erick Shienny)

It's been 3 months since my last post. I know it seems like I neglect this blog. The fact is I don't have enough time to blog as much as it used to be. My time was mostly spent on travel and thought about what step I'mma take after my almost-perfect-well-prepared plan had to be terminated for a good cause. Don't feel like talking about it here, so let's moving on… I've posted the holy matrimony of my oldest bro earlier, so I have no reason not to share the wedding reception photos. Before we jump to the photos, I'm gonna give a brief description about how Chinese Indonesian wedding reception goes.
Compared to most wedding receptions in modern countries like USA, England, and Singapore, the wedding reception here is extravaganza and uber festive. Wedding invitations are sent out 3-4 weeks before; number of guests may vary depending on the size of the party itself. The most common is 600-1000 guests. Friends, families, friends of families, and colleagues are welcomed and expected to attend. They mainly donate money (red envelope) as their gift to the bride and groom. There is a huge presence of flowers in Indonesian wedding because they believe that the more flowers you have on your wedding day, the richer you will seem LOL.
A long procession leads to where the guests await the newly wedded bride and groom. As the reception begins, the groom or family stands up and thank the guests for attending the wedding. Bride and groom make their way up to their seats near the stage to watch the performers (nowadays, they invite celebrities to perform).  Enough with the small talk, so here are the photos!

Chinese Wedding Ceremony

As buddhist, my brother and his fiancé had a wedding ceremony in a Buddhist temple called Vihara. The intention of Buddhist wedding is to build and maintain a harmonious and spiritual family. I can say that Buddhist wedding is a simple wedding ritual. It was started from entering the place (bride, groom, followed by their parents), affirmation (officiant as the leader of the ceremony asked a few questions to the bride and groom if there are any force and threat from other party to marry in Buddha religion), light the candles, yellow ribbon knotting and cover up by yellow cloth, until signing the wedding vow.

Bollywood Bridal Shower

Second day in Bali. I threw a bridal shower that afternoon at Biku, North Seminyak, topped with a little decoration by Voilawish Party Designer. I particularly fell in love with the place. From the outside, it's easy to miss because the sign is not big enough and the building itself is not eye-catching. But once you enter, you'll be amazed by the colonial-style interior. It's a unique combination of a tea lounge, an eclectic restaurant, book store, warm service, and yummy foods (pavlova with tropical fruits and the amazing banana toffee pie are too good to be true).  Biku's signature is probably the Traditional high tea. I made a reservation for a tea time few days before I came. One point to note is you need to make reservation in advance so that you can have a great spot (my favourite is the outdoor area).

Since we're rarely gather, we took unusual number of pictures that night, but I'll share a lil piece of it. You are able to see the complete Chanel themed birthday party on Voilawish Facebook Page here

His 22nd bday

He's turning 22 that day. We both had to work (he's working crazy hours out of town 6-1 recently and doesn't have a lot of free time) so we didn't have any plan to celebrate it. However, something popped in my mind and this idea came to me. I thought, why didn't I make his day a little bit more special. Right after work, I went to his house and prepared all of this!  I couldn't have done this without the help of his maid, who helped me tied the pictures to the balloons. So, thank you mbak! (it's how most Indonesian call their maids)

Yes I gave him two birthday cakes. Why two? Because for me he's better than other guys so he deserves more than just one damn cake ;) balloon birthday surprise for boyfriend

Wedding Day (Eddo Bebe)

One of my brothers is (finally) a married man! My big family were all gathered together to celebrate the wedding of my bro and his beautiful fiancĂ©e last October. When they first began planning the wedding, they wanted to have a casual celebration and for a location, they wanted something different from the typical ballroom, so finally we all found this place and loved the rustic natural feeling, with the beautiful outdoors and lake view, it was perfect. Everything was so magical; bright colored dresses, whimsical flowers, yummy foods, undeniably beautiful lake view, and huge smiles. The weather was absolute perfection and every detail was accounted for.  I took a ton of photos (of course) during the wedding and wanted to share a few with you. Here are a few I took with my camera.

Fresh fruits for everyone!  photobooth
The cake (love the romantic details with touches of vintage and rustic)

The awesomest wedding dress ever :)
The wedding would not have been as much fun if we had not worked with such amazing people, so thank you for all vendors :)
